Singles
Counseling for singles covers a broad range of concerns facing the single person. Loneliness, dating difficulties, shyness, adjustment to separation or divorce, self-esteem, value clarification, physical appearance, sexual concerns, unrealistic standards or expectations, risk taking, fear or distrust of the opposite sex, and other relationship and life issues that are of particular concern to singles.
Couples/Marriage
Couples/Marriage counseling is typically required for 3 core problems:
1. General problems such as lack of communication and understanding as they may not adjust to each other’s lifestyle and schedule.
2. Personal and unspoken problems happening within a relationship/marriage and resulting in fear, insecurity, etc. Such as lack of money.
3. Violation of Christian values like not being honest with partner/spouse and having an affair with someone else.
These are some of the problems most couples face. If they are not being resolved, they can potentially destroy the relationship/marriage and even the lives of the children if there are any.
Clergy
Working harder and longer is not the answer. The answer is learning that every part of the body does its work.
Do you feel overworked, mired in problems and stressed-out? Are you inadequately trained to cope with the demands of the ministry? Is your marriage strained and cracking under the pressure?
You are not alone. Many clergy feel unqualified and discouraged. Some even struggle with depression. They are doing the best they can to juggle all their responsibilities but are still slipping further and further behind. And if that’s not enough, it seems they are constantly dealing with conflict and problem people.
You are expected to be personable, friendly, and accessible, regardless of what other demands life or work have placed upon you. Sometimes you have to function as a businessman: administrator, financial manager, and entrepreneur. Turn around and you are a public relations leader, representing your church in the community. Right alongside these are the normal requirements of personal life, such as being a spouse and/or parent.
Fulfilling any of these roles requires focused concentration, with the understanding that you are subject to emotional whiplash at any moment as you are summoned without warning to change hats and hit the ground running.
